Homemade Dinner Rolls

    ~Homemade Dinner Rolls~

We are so excited to share this delicious recipe with you,
our dear readers !
We just couldn't keep it to ourselves as we enjoy these dinner rolls almost daily in our home.
And which family doesn't need dinner rolls?!

These soft homemade dinner rolls are one of the best we ever had !
They are so versatile and are pillowy soft and enjoyed by all !

Since these dinner rolls are attached to each other, they don’t steal very quickly like most buns do after a day .

If you never made dinner rolls before, you should give this easy recipe a try ! It’ll become your favorite !

These rolls are so good when you serve them fresh out of the oven with butter and jam on top or with a slice of your favorite cheese!

They also taste amazing alongside a bowl of hot steaming soup .

The options are really endless!

So put your apron on and let’s get baking !!!

What you'll need :

  •  560 gr. flour
  • 9 gr. instant yeast
  • 10 gr. salt
  • 10 gr. sugar
  • 60 gr. unsalted butter , melted and cooled to lukewarm
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 ml milk , lukewarm
                                          And to finish it off:
  • 1 egg , beaten
  • sesame and poppy seeds

Start by adding the yeast to your flour

Now add some milk to activate the yeast.

Add the salt and sugar to one side of the bowl.

Add the eggs and melted butter to your bowl.

Start stirring with a wooden spoon to combine all the ingredients.
And add almost all of the milk while stirring.

When the dough is too hard to stir start kneading with your hands.

If the dough is a little too dry add a tiny bit of milk at a time .

If the dough starts forming a ball, transfer to your countertop and start kneading the bread thoroughly.

After less than 10 minutes you should have a smooth, light dough.
Put the dough into a clean bowl that you greased with some sunfloweroil.
Cover and let rise until dubbled in size for about 1 1/2 hours.

Once the dough is fully risen start by greasing a big pan ( I used a retangular shape of 28x21 cm).
Divide the dough into 15 equal rolls and let rest for about 10 minutes under a damp tea~towel.

Now put the rolls in the greased pan, they almost should touch each other. ( ⇾ see picture ).

Cover again and let rise for about 1 hour until dubbled in size.

Preheat the oven at 200°C and brush some egg wash on top of the rolls and sprinkle some sesame and poppy seeds on top .

Bake the rolls for 20 minutes at 200°C until golden brown.
Carefully remove the pan and let the rolls cool off on a wire rack.

 ~ Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.~

~Proverbs 30:8~

These rolls can also be baked into a round shape, then we call them ~ Flower Rolls ~

Instead of using the rectangular pan , use two round spring forms of 23 or 26 cm dia. to bake the rolls in .
Divide the dough into 16 instead of 15 and place one roll in the middle and arrange 7 around it , almost touching each other. Follow the same directions as with the Dinner Rolls.

Tip : During the cold Winter months we like to make this dough in the bread baking machine as the dough needs more warmth in order to rise properly!
You could let the dough rise near a source of heat as well.

We hope you'll give these Homemade Dinner Rolls a try !
Please let us know how they turned out for you !!!

Many Love and Blessings,
