~ An Afternoon of Lipbalm Making ~
A new year has begun and with that comes the longing of those beautiful Spring days that gives us so much joy ...
But alas ! When we open the door we are greeted by a sharp wind and perhaps some snow and we are surprised by the cold that enters our cozy and warm house.
That's when we realize Winter is still here !
So do chapped lips!
You probably know how hard it is at times to keep track of those little tubes especially when you need them so make sure you make enough in advance !!!
While searching for a good recipe we read here and there but found none that used the ingredients we had on hand. So we looked in our cabinets and came up with this recipe and we are glad to announce it does the job ! We only use 3 basic ingredients for this soothing lipbalm which fills 4 regular sized lipbalm tubes.

''Little Women Lipbalm''
- Ingredients you'll need :
- 1 Tablespoon beeswax
- 2 Tablespoons Sweet Almond Oil
- 2 Tablespoons Jojoba Oil
What's nice about this recipe is that it's so versatile and easy to experiment with. You can add essential oils to this fragrance free recipe to create a healing lipbalm.
We added about 2 drops of rose geranium essential oil in one batch and a drop of cinnamon and 2 drops of sweet orange essential oil in another. Experiment with some of you favorite fragrances like :
*Lavender*Peppermint*Tea Tree*Eucalyptus*...
Caution !
We don't use any other Citrus Essential Oils because they can cause a
- Mandarin (Green) Essential Oil Citrus reticulata
- Steam-distilled Lime Essential Oil Citrus aurantifolia
- Orange (Sweet) Essential Oil Citrus sinensis
Start
by heating a little fondue set with a tealight. We discovered that
using a little pan with a small spout is much easier to work with when
you fill tubes. Ofcourse you can make this lipbalm au bain marie on the
stove, it's just a matter of choice !
Now add the oils one at the time !
Now you can add your beeswax !
Is all the beeswax melted? Then we can add our essential oils one drop at a time! Essential oils can quickly become overpowering so be careful to add one drop at a time. We recommend using about 2~3 drops for one batch.
Stir well !
Now it's time to pour our lipbalm into tubes or in tiny glass/plastic jars or tins.
See how quick the balm starts to harden once it's removed from the heat ?

Let the balm harden before putting on the caps.
Et voila !!!
Et voila !!!
You made your very own ''Little Women Lipbalm''!!!
Once you master making your own lipbalms you can easily whip some up in no time!
So bye bye to those chapped lips!!!
